Character Name: Felix Hugo Fraldarius
Age: 23
Suitability: N/A
Canon: Fire Emblem Three Houses, Blue Lions route (but a bit of a sadder AU so he has a reason to die--)
Canon Point: Post Blue Lions, except Sylvain and Dimitri died in the final battle, Ingrid died at Gronder, Byleth became Archbishop, Dedue did not survive the timeskip, everything is awful, and Felix died six months later in a skirmish between former Imperial troops and the mercenary company he had just joined.
History: Wiki
Personality: To ask anyone who knows Felix from school or just in passing, you would think that he is nothing more than a rude, fight-obsessed young man who would be happiest as a mercenary and not heir to a dukedom. And you would be wrong. Mostly. He is a rude, fight-obsessed young man, but he cares deeply for those he was once close to and for those he considers worth his time. He’s just really bad at showing it. Part of this is because Faerghus is...honestly almost hilariously toxic at times. The country is so focused on honor and chivalry and strength that anything else usually gets shoved to the side or mocked if it isn’t forcibly removed as it was with Felix. Felix, we know, used to be something of a crybaby who always went looking for Dimitri when he was upset and was something of the baby of the four noble children from Faerghus. And then something--implied to be Glenn’s death but never actually stated—something happened and Felix became a cranky young man who can’t compliment a friend’s singing because it sounds like he’s being sarcastic about it.
Despite appearing to be perhaps the most well-adjusted of the four noble children from Faerghus (depending on if one considers Sylvain’s everything “well-adjusted”), that is all a ruse that Felix doesn’t even really seem to actively maintain. Felix is, to put it bluntly, a boy who lost his brother, his best friend, and his relationship with his father all in one day and never really learned to grieve those losses. Whereas Dimitri lingers on the dead and refuses to let go, Felix goes hard in the opposite direction: the dead are gone, so thinking about them and what they’d want or say is foolish. This refusal to grieve leads, in a way, to Felix’s general prickliness. Refusing to process his grief has left him unable to really deal with any sort of emotion that isn’t “fight” and because of this he is largely isolated from his peers—though he says he’s perfectly fine with that.
Even then, however, he can come to realize that he’s only interested in fighting so much because he’s training for a fight he’ll never have, a fight where he beats Glenn. And, in all honesty, his endings on routes not Blue Lions is a perfect example of how bad Felix’s mindset is for himself. In almost all of his endings on the other routes, Felix abandons his dukedom to become a mercenary. In several of those endings, he never really finds any peace doing mercenary work and only usually finds it with his wife. It’s implied by several lines Felix says on these other routes that he feels guilty for abandoning his friends and family (or outright betraying them, on Crimson Flower) and so he turns to the only thing he knows how to do: fight, and ignore his emotions until forced to do otherwise.
In spite of it all, however, Felix does still care. He gets angry at his friends when they do reckless things (and thankfully most of them realize he’s the “angry because I’m worried” sort) and despite refusing to do anything with him, Felix does ask that Byleth keep on Dimitri and “cage” him once he starts to break down after the Flame Emperor is revealed to be Edelgard. He just, unfortunately, has no idea how to express that in a way that isn’t anger and bitterness.
Sin:
Wrath
Felix is angry at the world. The world took his brother, his best friend, and his relationship with his father from him. He’s more controlled than say Dimitri, but he is so very angry and bitter. And this Felix, who’s gone through everything mentioned in the canon point, has lost so much more after so much strife. He’s pissed.
Envy
Though he never outright says it, one gets the impression that there is a part of Felix who envies his brother Glenn in a way. Even four years dead, everyone is still focused on Glenn. Ingrid tries to compare the two of them, his father won’t shut up about Glenn’s “sacrifice” (in Felix’s eyes, at least), and as far as Felix can tell Dimitri is more interested in the dead than the living when the two of them had previously been so close. They chose the dead over him.
Sloth
Despite being constantly working to improve himself, Felix more or less gave up on trying to help Dimitri after the events two years prior to canon. He asks Byleth to take care of it, rather than do anything himself, and it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t think he could do anything even if he tried. He also simply doesn’t try to get along with others, though he’s not actively an asshole either. He just cannot be fucked.
